“A heated day in history.
Hot yellow days when the sun has no shade. It’s only outlet is to let out it’s burning blaze on our sun kissed skin darkening our melanin that glows from within in. We are worshippers. Our king is named Jesus. The one who redeemed us from a melting pot of pain.I scream with joy because His name is so worthy to be praised. But all my screams aren’t pretty. You see, I scream because innocents in a sense is being overlooked by lost crooks who have no common sense. And when common sense ain’t so common, I’d hope a moral compass would be. If only they knew Christ’ love leads us straight, they’d divorce cold hate that discriminates.Bodies drip drip dropping to the ground like melting pieces of paradise that never made it into my mouth. And just like this, sadly too many brown souls never made it home to keep on taking sweet licks of life.Instead they took beatings and licks that stole theirs.Loved ones left alone to groan & stomach this twisted “news” normal. All have fallen short of God’s glory. This reality constantly humbles me to see all gracefully through a lens of love. His blood dripped for our downfalls & he took many licks for lives & yet some still despise. So in gratitude I’ll grieve differently.I’ll spend the rest of life’s bitter sweetness on sharing what I taste & see about His deity. And I’ll lick this ice until my insides no longer feel the need to silently scream because there is so much melanin right in front of me to celebrate. God. Is. Good.”

(A poem I wrote yesterday while watching these two precious souls indulge in this sticky yumminess! Grateful to behold they’re beauty. They melt my heart!)
